மலைகளிலும், குகைகளிலும் வாழ்ந்த பழந்தமிழர்களுக்கு ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் உணவுத் தேடும்போது அவர்கள் விலங்கோடுப் போராடிதே பெரும் போராட்டமாக இருந்தது.அவ்வாறு உணவுத் தேடுவது பெரும் வேலையாக இருந்தாலும் எப்பொழுதெல்லாம் விண்ணில் மாற்றம் ஏற்படுகிறதோ அப்பொழுதெல்லாம் மண்ணிலும் மனிதனிலும் மாற்றம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளதை அறிந்தனர். அதனைஆராய்ந்து வாழ்க்கையோடும் கலை மற்றும் பண்பாட்டுச் சடங்குகளோடுஉடலியல் உண்மையோடும் | கற்பனையிலும்ஒப்பிட்டுள்ளனர்.
வலவன் ஏவா வானூர்தி” (அகம்-10 – முதுகண்ணன் சாத்தனார்)

“நல்ல செயல்களைச் செய்தோர் தானே இயங்கும் விமானத்தின் மூலம் சொற்கத்தை அடைவர்” என்பது இதன் பொருளாகும்.ஆக, விமானம் மிகவும் பிற்காலத்தில் வந்த ஒன்றுதான் இன்னும் சொல்லப் போனால் ஆங்கிலேயர்கள் காலத்தில் கூட இல்லை. ஆனால் அகநானூறுப் பாடல் வரியானது 21-ம் நூற்றாண்டில் மூலைமுடுக்கெல்லாம் அலசும் ஆளில்லா வான்கலம் (ஸ்ட்ரோன்) பற்றிப் பேசுகிறது. அவ்வகையில் இவ்வாய்வுக்கட்டுரையானது “பழந்தமிழ் இலக்கியங்களில் அறிவியல் சிந்தனை” என் தலைப்பில் ஆராய்கிறது.
3000-ம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முற்பட்ட சங்க இலக்கிய அகநானூற்றில்,

வானத்து இயல்புகளையும் அவ்வானத்தில் நாள்மீன்களிலும் கோள் மீன்களாலும் நாள்தோறும் நிகழும் மாற்றங்களையும் அவ் மாற்றங்களின் விளைவுகளையும் நுண்ணறிவுடன் நோக்கி இலக்கியப் பாடல்களில் பாடியுள்ளனர்.
