Abstract
Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) represents a spectrum of respiratory disturbances occurring during sleep, including obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, and hypoventilation syndromes. These conditions are associated with repeated episodes of airflow limitation, oxygen desaturation, and sleep fragmentation, significantly impairing cardiovascular, neurological, and metabolic health. Sleep-disordered breathing has become a major global health concern due to its high prevalence and strong association with chronic conditions such as hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. This cross-sectional analytical study examines contemporary diagnostic approaches and therapeutic strategies used in the management of SDB among 226 patients. Polysomnography remains the gold standard diagnostic method, although home-based sleep monitoring technologies and wearable diagnostic devices are increasingly used. Continuous positive airway pressure therapy demonstrated the most effective treatment outcomes (F=7.45, p=0.001) in patients with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea. Behavioural therapy interventions, weight management programmes, and surgical interventions also contributed to improved clinical outcomes in selected patient groups.

Abstract
Street vending is a ubiquitous feature of urban economies across sub-Saharan Africa, simultaneously providing livelihoods for millions of informal workers and generating complex spatial, economic, and governance challenges for municipal authorities. In Kaoma District, Zambia, street vending constitutes a significant component of the urban informal economy, contributing to household income generation and local commodity distribution while creating tensions around urban space management, public health, and local authority revenue collection. This article examines the impact of street vending on the local economy in Kaoma District, contextualising findings within global scholarship on informal economy dynamics, digital formalisation strategies, AI-powered market systems, and inclusive urban economic development. Drawing on a descriptive survey of street vendors, local authority officials, and formal business operators, the study documents both positive economic contributions of street vending including employment generation, income distribution, and affordable goods access and negative impacts including urban space conflicts, public health risks, and taxation revenue losses. The article argues that digital vendor registration systems, AI-powered market management platforms, and mobile fintech solutions offer pathways for progressive street vendor formalisation that preserves livelihood benefits while addressing governance and health challenges. Policy recommendations are presented.

Abstract
Otologic surgery has undergone substantial transformation over the past century, evolving from conventional open surgical approaches to advanced microsurgical and minimally invasive techniques. Technological advancements such as surgical microscopy, endoscopic visualisation, powered instrumentation, image-guided navigation, and robotic-assisted surgical systems have enhanced surgical precision, reduced complications, and improved patient outcomes. This cross-sectional analytical study examines recent surgical innovations in otologic procedures and evaluates the clinical outcomes associated with modern surgical techniques among 158 patients. Endoscopic ear surgery and image-guided microsurgical techniques demonstrate improved surgical visualisation, reduced operative trauma, and faster postoperative recovery. Image-guided and robotic-assisted surgery demonstrated the highest hearing improvement scores (F=7.32, p=0.001). Continued research and technological development are expected to further improve surgical outcomes and patient care in the field of otology.

Abstract
Voice and speech disorders represent significant communication impairments affecting individuals across the lifespan, arising from structural, neurological, functional, or psychological factors and often resulting in reduced vocal quality, impaired articulation, and limitations in effective verbal communication. This cross-sectional analytical study evaluates contemporary approaches to the assessment and management of voice and speech disorders and examines the effectiveness of clinical and therapeutic strategies used in speech-language pathology practice among 172 patients. Multidisciplinary therapeutic approaches combining voice therapy, behavioural intervention, and technological support systems significantly improve speech intelligibility and vocal function. Combined voice and speech therapy produced the highest improvement in speech intelligibility scores (F=7.48, p=0.001). Telepractice-based speech therapy and digital voice analysis technologies also demonstrated promising results in enhancing treatment accessibility and patient engagement. Early diagnosis and individualised therapy programmes were associated with improved clinical outcomes.

Abstract
Advances in neonatal and pediatric healthcare have significantly improved survival rates among infants and children with complex medical conditions. However, increasing survival has shifted the focus of pediatric medicine from short-term clinical recovery toward understanding the long-term developmental, neurological, and psychosocial outcomes associated with early medical interventions. This cross-sectional analytical study examines the long-term outcomes associated with neonatal and pediatric medical interventions among 212 children aged 3–12 years who previously received neonatal or pediatric medical interventions during early infancy. Early therapeutic interventions and comprehensive neonatal follow-up programs significantly improve long-term developmental and health outcomes. Children who received structured early intervention programs demonstrated improved cognitive development and reduced long-term complications. Early developmental therapy programs were the strongest predictor of improved long-term outcomes (F=7.41, p=0.001). The study highlights the importance of integrated neonatal follow-up systems, early developmental interventions, and multidisciplinary pediatric healthcare frameworks in optimizing long-term outcomes.

Abstract
Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a common inflammatory condition affecting the nasal and paranasal sinus mucosa, characterised by persistent nasal obstruction, facial pain, nasal discharge, and reduced quality of life. Management of CRS remains a significant clinical challenge due to its multifactorial pathophysiology and variable treatment responses. This cross-sectional analytical study evaluates the clinical outcomes of CRS management by examining the effectiveness of medical and surgical treatment strategies and their impact on patient-reported outcomes among 196 patients. Combined medical and surgical management strategies demonstrate improved clinical outcomes compared with isolated treatment approaches. Patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery following unsuccessful medical therapy showed significant improvements in symptom severity and quality-of-life measures (F=7.36, p=0.001). SNOT-22 scores were strongly associated with treatment success. The study highlights the importance of patient-centred clinical decision-making, early diagnostic evaluation, integrated treatment strategies, and emerging digital health innovations in managing CRS.

Abstract
Emergency care for children represents a critical component of modern healthcare systems, requiring specialized clinical expertise, rapid decision-making, and coordinated multidisciplinary care. Pediatric patients present unique physiological and psychological characteristics that necessitate tailored emergency care models distinct from adult emergency medicine. This cross-sectional analytical study examines the effectiveness of contemporary pediatric emergency care models and evaluates the determinants influencing quality and efficiency in pediatric emergency departments among 238 pediatric patients. Integrated pediatric emergency care models combining specialized clinical expertise, telemedicine support, and collaborative care frameworks significantly improve treatment efficiency and patient outcomes. Triage efficiency and availability of pediatric specialists were the strongest determinants of improved emergency care outcomes (F=7.36, p=0.001 and F=6.14, p=0.003 respectively). The study emphasizes the importance of strengthening pediatric emergency care infrastructure through specialized training programs, technological integration, and coordinated healthcare networks.

Abstract
Auditory and vestibular disorders represent a significant group of neurological and otolaryngological conditions affecting hearing, balance, spatial orientation, and overall quality of life. These disorders include vertigo, vestibular migraine, Meniere’s disease, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, and central vestibular dysfunction. This cross-sectional analytical study examines emerging diagnostic innovations among 184 patients presenting with vestibular or auditory symptoms. Advanced diagnostic technologies such as video head impulse testing (vHIT, F=7.25, p=0.001), machine-learning-assisted vestibular assessments, and smartphone-based diagnostic tools significantly improve diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making. Telemedicine-based vestibular assessments and digital health technologies were identified as promising tools for improving patient access to specialised diagnostic services. The study underscores the importance of integrating AI-driven tools, multi-technology diagnostic frameworks, and patient-centred rehabilitation strategies in advancing otoneurological care.

Abstract
Inadequate waste management in urban and peri-urban harbour areas poses severe risks to community health, environmental integrity, and sustainable development in sub-Saharan African cities. Two selected harbour areas in Zambia’s Western Province face significant solid waste management challenges that directly compromise the health and well-being of resident communities. This article examines the impacts and effects of waste management practices on people and the environment in these harbour areas, situating local empirical findings within global scholarship on smart waste management systems, artificial intelligence in environmental monitoring, blockchain-enabled waste tracking, and community-based environmental action. Findings from a descriptive survey reveal that inadequate waste collection, open burning, and unregulated dumping generate significant health burdens including respiratory illness, waterborne disease, and child malnutrition alongside environmental degradation, water contamination, and biodiversity loss. The study argues that AI-powered smart waste management systems, sensor-based environmental monitoring, and community digital reporting platforms offer transformative pathways for improving waste management outcomes in harbour communities. Policy recommendations are presented.

Abstract
Pediatric infectious diseases remain a major global health concern due to their significant contribution to childhood morbidity and mortality. Children are particularly vulnerable to infectious diseases because of their developing immune systems and frequent exposure to pathogens in community and healthcare settings. This cross-sectional analytical study examines the clinical management and preventive strategies used in pediatric infectious disease care among 258 pediatric patients diagnosed with infectious diseases in tertiary healthcare institutions and pediatric clinics. Respiratory infections and gastrointestinal infections were the most prevalent pediatric infectious conditions. Early diagnosis and timely antimicrobial treatment significantly improved recovery outcomes. Preventive interventions such as vaccination programs, infection control practices, and improved hygiene measures demonstrated strong effectiveness in reducing infection transmission. The study also highlights the growing role of digital health technologies, precision medicine, and artificial intelligence-driven diagnostic tools in enhancing pediatric infectious disease management.
