Abstract
Pathology plays a central role in modern clinical medicine by providing definitive diagnostic information that guides therapeutic decisions, prognostic evaluation, and disease management strategies. This cross-sectional analytical study investigates the contribution of pathological evaluation to clinical decision-making across multiple medical specialties using 236 clinical cases. Pathological evaluation significantly influences clinical decisions across all medical specialties, with the greatest impact observed in oncology and surgical pathology. Integrated multidisciplinary pathological review demonstrated the highest rates of favorable clinical outcomes (94.6%) and treatment accuracy (96.2%). ANOVA confirmed high pathological influence scores across all specialties with oncology achieving the highest (F=8.64, p=0.001).

Abstract
Gender disparities in mathematics education encompassing differences in enrolment, achievement, participation, and aspiration persist across sub-Saharan Africa despite significant policy attention and programmatic investment. In Mongu District, Western Province, Zambia, girls’ negative perceptions of and attitudes toward mathematics constitute a significant barrier to quality mathematics education access and achievement, with consequences for girls’ educational progression, STEM career pathways, and long-term economic empowerment. This article examines the factors affecting the provision of quality mathematics education for girls in Mongu District schools, situating findings within global scholarship on gender and mathematics learning, AI-adaptive STEM education, digital inclusive pedagogy, and girls’ STEM empowerment programmes. Drawing on a descriptive survey of female pupils, mathematics teachers, and school administrators, findings identify teacher gender bias, absence of female mathematics role models, family attitude constraints, mathematics anxiety, and inadequate pedagogical adaptation for girls’ learning styles as primary factors. The article argues that AI-powered adaptive mathematics platforms, digital female STEM mentoring networks, and gender-responsive mathematics pedagogy training offer transformative pathways for advancing girls’ mathematics achievement. Policy recommendations are presented.

Abstract
Tobacco production is one of Zambia’s most economically significant agricultural export commodities, yet its environmental consequences encompassing deforestation, soil degradation, water contamination, and air pollution impose severe and often irreversible ecological costs on tobacco-growing communities. In Nkeyema District, Western Province, the concentration of commercial tobacco production around the JTI tobacco processing plant has generated significant local environmental challenges that threaten long-term agricultural land productivity, biodiversity, and community health. This article examines the environmental effects of tobacco production in Nkeyema District, situating local findings within global scholarship on agricultural sustainability, AI-driven environmental monitoring, precision agriculture, and green economy transition. Drawing on a descriptive survey of farmers, environmental officials, and community members, findings document extensive deforestation for curing fuel, soil chemical degradation, agrichemical water contamination, and farmer occupational health impacts. The article argues that AI-powered environmental monitoring systems, precision agriculture technologies, and community-based agroforestry programmes offer pathways for mitigating tobacco production’s environmental impacts while supporting sustainable livelihood transition. Policy recommendations are presented.

Abstract
Curriculum change is a complex, multidimensional process that affects the instructional practices, professional identities, and pedagogical relationships of teachers and learners in profound ways. In Zambia, the 2013 revised curriculum introduced sweeping changes to content, language of instruction policy, pedagogical approaches, and assessment frameworks across all school levels changes that continue to generate significant implementation challenges, particularly for primary school teachers in rural and resource-constrained settings. This article examines the effects of curriculum change on teaching and learning in Zambian primary schools, contextualising local findings within global scholarship on curriculum reform, digital adaptation tools, AI-supported teacher professional development, and organisational change management in education. Drawing on a mixed-methods descriptive survey, findings reveal that curriculum change has produced both positive shifts including increased learner-centredness, expanded mother tongue instruction, and stronger competency-based assessment and significant challenges including teacher time pressure, inadequate professional development, resource scarcity, and assessment confusion. The article argues that AI-powered curriculum interpretation platforms, digital teacher professional learning communities, and blockchain-enabled curriculum tracking systems offer promising pathways for supporting effective curriculum change implementation. Policy recommendations are presented.

Abstract
Examination malpractice encompassing cheating, leakage of examination materials, impersonation, and collusion between candidates and supervisors poses a fundamental threat to the integrity, validity, and social value of educational credentials. In Senanga District, Zambia’s Western Province, examination malpractice in secondary school national examinations has been documented as a persistent challenge, undermining public trust in qualification standards, disadvantaging honest candidates, and corrupting the meritocratic function of formal education. This article investigates the causes and solutions to examination malpractice as perceived by pupils in two selected secondary schools in Senanga District, contextualising findings within global scholarship on academic integrity, AI-based examination monitoring systems, digital proctoring technology, and ethical education frameworks. Drawing on a descriptive survey of pupils and teachers, findings identify examination pressure and high-stakes assessment culture, inadequate preparation, peer influence, supervisor complicity, and economic incentives as primary causal factors. AI-powered digital proctoring systems, blockchain-enabled credential verification, and integrated ethical education programmes are identified as promising solutions. Policy recommendations are presented.

Abstract
The relationship between learners’ first language or mother tongue and their acquisition of English as a language of instruction and formal communication is one of the most contested issues in African educational linguistics. In Shangombo District, Zambia’s Western Province, Lozi is used as the medium of instruction in lower primary grades, while English becomes the dominant instructional medium from Grade 5 onwards a transition that many learners navigate with significant difficulty. This article examines the effect of local and native languages on the development of English writing and speaking proficiency among primary school learners in Shangombo District, situating local findings within global scholarship on multilingual education, AI-assisted language learning, natural language processing, and digital literacy. Drawing on a descriptive survey of teachers, pupils, and parents, findings reveal that while mother tongue instruction in lower primary supports foundational literacy development, the abrupt transition to English-medium instruction generates significant proficiency gaps that persist into upper primary and secondary schooling. The article argues that AI-powered language learning platforms, adaptive natural language processing tools, and community-based digital literacy programmes offer transformative pathways for supporting English language development without displacing learners’ linguistic heritage. Policy recommendations are presented.

Abstract
Pediatric ear, nose, and throat (ENT) disorders represent a significant proportion of childhood illnesses and are among the most common reasons for paediatric healthcare visits worldwide. Conditions such as otitis media, tonsillitis, adenoid hypertrophy, allergic rhinitis, and upper airway infections frequently affect children due to anatomical, immunological, and environmental factors. This cross-sectional analytical study examines the clinical challenges associated with paediatric ENT disorders and evaluates current diagnostic and management strategies among 214 paediatric patients. Recurrent ear infections and allergic rhinitis were the most prevalent ENT conditions. Otitis media was the most frequently diagnosed disorder (33.6%). Combined treatment strategies involving medical therapy and surgical intervention produced the highest clinical improvement scores (F=7.21, p=0.001). The integration of telemedicine consultations and digital diagnostic technologies demonstrated significant potential for improving access to paediatric ENT care.

Abstract
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) constitute the backbone of employment generation, income distribution, and economic resilience in sub-Saharan African economies. In Mongu District, Western Province, Zambia, SMEs face a complex web of structural, financial, and informational challenges that constrain their growth, sustainability, and contribution to local economic development. This article investigates the factors affecting SME growth in Mongu District, situating local findings within global scholarship on digital transformation, artificial intelligence in business, fintech ecosystems, and inclusive entrepreneurship. Drawing on a mixed-methods survey of SME owners and business support practitioners, the study identifies access to finance, market information asymmetry, inadequate business skills, infrastructure deficits, and regulatory compliance burdens as primary growth constraints. The article argues that AI-powered market intelligence platforms, mobile fintech solutions, blockchain-enabled supply chain management, and digital business literacy programmes offer transformative pathways for SME growth in resource-constrained African economic contexts. Policy and practice recommendations are presented.

Abstract
Parental engagement in the education of children with special educational needs is a critical determinant of educational outcomes, social inclusion, and family well-being for children with disabilities and developmental differences. In Zambia, parental perceptions of special needs education including its value, accessibility, and cultural acceptability significantly shape whether children with special needs are enrolled in appropriate educational programmes or excluded from formal schooling. This article investigates parental perceptions of the importance of special needs education in selected Zambian schools, contextualising findings within global scholarship on AI-assisted parental support platforms, digital advocacy networks, and disability-inclusive educational governance. Drawing on a mixed-methods survey of parents of children with special educational needs, findings reveal that parental attitudes toward special needs education are predominantly positive but constrained by limited knowledge of available services, cultural stigma associated with disability, financial barriers to specialised provision access, and inadequate school-parent communication. The article argues that AI-powered information platforms, digital parental advocacy networks, and community-based disability support systems offer transformative pathways for enhancing parental engagement and expanding access to quality special needs education. Policy recommendations are presented.

Abstract
Flag salutation practices including the national flag ceremony, singing of the national anthem, and associated patriotic rituals conducted in schools represent a significant civic education tool for cultivating learner patriotism, national identity, and democratic citizenship values. Teachers play a central role in facilitating, modelling, and pedagogically enriching these practices, yet the quality and consistency of teacher engagement with flag salutation ceremonies varies considerably across Zambian secondary schools. This article examines the role of teachers in flag salutation practices and their influence on learner patriotism in three selected secondary schools in Zambia, situating findings within global scholarship on civic education, digital citizenship, AI-enhanced patriotic education, and democratic values formation. Drawing on a descriptive survey and qualitative interviews with teachers, pupils, and school administrators, findings reveal that teacher enthusiasm, knowledge depth, and pedagogical creativity in flag salutation facilitation significantly influence the degree to which learners develop genuine, informed patriotic attitudes rather than superficial compliance. Digital civic education tools, AI-powered democratic participation platforms, and community-based patriotism programmes are identified as promising complements to conventional flag ceremony practice. Policy recommendations are offered.
